I am a wife, crocheter and budget analyst for the Navy. I really enjoy crocheting, and have joined up with some friends to create a group that gets together regularly to crochet, learn new things, and have fun (of course).
We call ourselves the Slipstitches.
I learned to crochet after my grandmother died, from a nice little old lady who was a friend of the family. She taught me how to crochet right handed for an hour and a half. I was terrible; God bless her for her patience! It took a long time for me to figure it out on my own, but I taught myself to crochet left handed, and I’ve been going ever since.
Recently, I’ve become more serious about crocheting – actually spending time doing it and learning new things, and I’ve had the opportunity to teach a handful of people how to do it themselves.
The more I find out about crochet, the more I am drawn to knitting as well. I finally crossed over to the dark side a week ago and learned how to knit. So I am off! However, I still only know how to knit, so I know I have a long way to go: purl, casting off, switching yarns, increasing, decreasing, and all those other fun stitches!
